Construction began Summer 2020 on the new Daviess County Middle School, located near Gateways Common in the ever-growing HWY 54 area of Owensboro.
The focal point of this innovative middle school design is a secured learning courtyard, which will be surrounded by and accessed from three identical ‘pod’ type classroom wings for each grade. Each pod will also have its own ICC-500 Storm Shelter.
Internal features include clerestory daylighting in classroom corridors and main public spaces, secure entry and reception areas, and easy partitioning/access control of the building. The facility is designed to accommodate up to 900 students.
Superior Insealators sprayed 48,000 square feet of Xcelus XLS-2000 closed cell foam at 2.25″ to the exterior walls and Xcelus XLS-500 open cell foam at 3.5″ to the roof to wall junctures.
